MAZDA RX-8
After nearly a decade on the sidelines, Mazda resurrected the ‘RX’ nameplate in North America in 2003 with the release of the RX-8, continuing in Mazda’s tradition of rotary-powered sports cars.
The RX-8 was an immediate hit with regular drivers as well as tuners and racers. Its 1.3-liter engine, known as RENESIS can produce nearly 250 horsepower while still providing the classic RX-level handling and braking.
RENESIS is one of the lightest production engines on the planet, at less than 350 pounds, dramatically reducing the RX-8’s curb weight and giving it the kind of performance you’d expect from a car in SHIFT.
