Most North Americans who pick up SHIFT may be taken aback by the choice to put a Ford Focus - normally known as an economy car providing basic transportation on this side of the pond - in the fastest racing game on the planet.

But in the UK, the Focus ST is a legitimate performance car that has some fire in its belly. The ST produces 222 horsepower from its turbocharged 2.5-liter, 5-cylinder engine – borrowed from the Volvo S40 - and still delivers respectable fuel economy.

Compared to the boxy North American iteration, the UK Focus has a sexy, swooping design but enough room to fit the family without skimping on performance. The Focus ST returns for another go-around in SHIFT.
