AUDI S4
As the performance version of Audi’s A4, the S4 sedan – it also comes in a wagon or droptop - emerged in 2006 with a re-design and for the first time, was a legitimate competitor of the BMW M3 for the finest German performance 4-door under $100,000.
The S4 has all the equipment required from a luxury sedan: well-equipped interior, navigation system and a premium sound system, but the stereo needs to be off to hear where the S4 really shines.
Audi put its best engineers to work on the S4’s best feature: an all-aluminum 4.2-liter V8 with tons of high-end grunt rated at 340 horsepower, but the engine isn’t in its element until you floor it – you start to feel the pull of the S4 at around 7,000 RPM – something you’ll want to try for yourself in SHIFT.
